Nothing comes up in the bag beyond oils and towels, which makes it the technique that arrives most quietly and leaves the least trace. It is usually the one guests choose the second time, having started with something more conventional.
Where it comes from
Full-contact work descends from bathing cultures in which washing another person was an attendant's trade — the hammams of the Ottoman cities, the bath houses of Japan — where the surface was tile and the contact was never limited to hands. The move onto oil and a bed happened in Europe, which had neither the bath house nor a drain in the floor to work with. The European name is new; the practice it describes is centuries older than the name.
The technique
The room is warmed first, because the entire technique is a transfer of heat and a cold room defeats it before anything begins. Oil is worked in by hand until the skin will not take any more, and only then does her weight come down along the length of your back, spread rather than concentrated at any point. The movement is slow and lengthwise — the stroke a forearm would make if a forearm were the size of a person. Hands return at the end, which is the body's signal that the hour is closing.
What to expect
The heating goes up about ten minutes before anything starts, because skin-to-skin work needs a warm room and hotel rooms rarely are one. It opens conventionally, with hands and oil across the back. The change to full contact happens without being announced, weight spread along the length of you and moving slowly rather than pressing in one place. It closes with hands again, which is how you know the hour is ending.

How warm does the room actually need to be?
Warmer than you would choose to sleep in — a few degrees above comfortable, which is why the thermostat goes up before anything starts. If the room has weak heating or a window that will not close, mention it when you book and the oils and the sequence are adjusted for it.
Is a hotel bed firm enough for this?
Almost always, and where it is not she brings a folding table that stands in about the space a suitcase takes. Soft mattresses affect pressure work far more than they affect this, because the weight is spread rather than driven into one point.
