Reaching the desk, at any hour

Both buttons on this page land on the same desk, and the person behind that desk at four in the morning is as awake as the one there at four in the afternoon. WhatsApp carries the majority of bookings. Telegram is there for guests who keep their travel life on it. There is no form to fill in, no account to make, and no call to place — a written message is the whole mechanism.

What a useful first message holds

• The district your hotel sits in, or the street. The room number can follow later, once you are actually in the room.
• When: a time, or simply now.
• How long: an hour, ninety minutes, two, three, or through until the morning.
• Who, if a profile has already caught your eye. If none has, describe the evening instead and we will put two or three names in front of you.
• Anything the room changes — a proper bath rather than a shower cubicle, floor space or the absence of it, a partner who will be there as well.

You are not obliged to name the hotel. A district and a room number are enough to get someone to your door, and a good many guests would rather the name of the building never appeared in a written message at all. That is an ordinary way to book here, not an awkward one, and nobody will ask you twice.

Replies run to about ten minutes at any hour. If you are writing across six or seven time zones and expect to be asleep by the time we answer, say which window works for you and we will aim the reply at it rather than waking you with it.
