How long should a hotel massage be? Guests ask it in almost every first message, usually in a slightly apologetic way, as if there were a correct answer they ought to know already. There is no single correct answer, but there is a correct method. You work backwards from three things: when you need to be asleep, when you next need to be somewhere, and how much of the session you want to spend arriving rather than enjoying. Once those are clear, the length nearly chooses itself. The options here run from one hour to a full night of eight hours, and every one of them is delivered to your room anywhere in central Amsterdam.
The ladder, in plain numbers
There are five standard lengths. The ladder starts at one hour and does not go shorter, because the setting up, the shower and the quiet minutes at the end need somewhere to live. For one guest with one therapist the figures are 180 euros for one hour, 270 euros for ninety minutes, 360 euros for two hours, 540 euros for three hours and 1,250 euros for an overnight of eight hours. A fourth or fifth hour is charged at the same 180 euros an hour as the first three, so a four-hour evening comes to 720 euros.
Two other rows matter if you are not alone or would like two therapists. A couple sharing one therapist, or one guest with two therapists, pays double the single rate: 360 euros for one hour, 540 for ninety minutes, 720 for two hours and 1,080 for three. Their overnights differ: 2,500 euros for a couple with one therapist, 2,880 euros for one guest with two. A couple with two therapists is the fourth row, at 720 euros an hour. Every therapist profile prints the complete table, so there is no need to memorise it.
How long should a hotel massage be on a normal evening?
For a first booking on an ordinary evening, ninety minutes is the length we suggest most often. The reason is practical rather than commercial. The first ten or fifteen minutes of any session are spent settling: the coat comes off, the lamp is adjusted, the room gets a little warmer, and your shoulders slowly come down from wherever the day left them. In a one-hour booking those minutes are a noticeable share of the whole. In ninety minutes they disappear into the rhythm of the evening.
One hour still has a clear place. It suits a guest who already knows the format, who has a dinner reservation or a call booked, or who wants to fall asleep early. It is also the natural length for a midday gap between appointments. What one hour does not do well is recover a truly long day, and guests who booked sixty minutes after fourteen hours of travel often tell us afterwards that they wished they had added the extra half.
Two hours: the length that stops watching the clock
Two hours is where a session changes character. Nobody glances at a phone, nobody thinks about what comes next, and the pace can be as slow as you like. It is the usual choice for a couple, for a birthday or a honeymoon, and for anyone who has booked a longer technique such as tantra, which is built around slowness and does not compress well into sixty minutes.
Two hours also fits neatly into an evening. Book it for nine, and she has left by eleven with the whole night still ahead for sleep. Book it for seven, and you still reach a late table at a restaurant. The only schedule it does not suit is a tight one, and if your evening is tight, ninety minutes is the honest choice.
Three hours and more
Three hours is chosen less often than people expect, and usually for one of two reasons. The first is an occasion: an anniversary, a birthday, the end of a long project. The second is a format that simply needs time, such as a four-hand session with two therapists, where the extra pair of hands makes a longer booking feel unhurried rather than long.
From three hours onwards, a deposit of half the fee applies to every booking, including a guest who has booked with us many times before. For a single guest with one therapist that means 270 euros ahead on a 540 euro evening, with 270 paid to her in the room. The deposit travels by card, Revolut, Wise or crypto after the office has confirmed the booking. Bank transfers are not accepted, and neither is cash as a deposit, because the deposit has to be settled before she leaves for your hotel.
The overnight, and who it is really for
Eight hours is not simply a very long session. It is a different kind of booking, closer to company than to an appointment, and it is priced as a block: 1,250 euros for one guest with one therapist, which works out cheaper than paying eight separate hours. The overnight page explains how the night is arranged, including breakfast and a late checkout.
Overnights are chosen by guests who do not want the evening to end with a door closing, by couples on a city break, and by business travellers on the last night of a trip. They always carry a deposit of half the fee, and they are the one length where booking a day or two ahead genuinely helps, since a therapist has to clear her whole night.
Matching the length to the hotel clock
A hotel room runs on its own timetable, and the length of a session should respect it. Four points come up again and again.
- Checkout. A morning booking on the day you leave should end at least an hour before checkout, so there is time to shower and pack. If checkout is at noon, a ninety-minute session starting at nine is comfortable; two hours starting at ten is not.
- Breakfast. If breakfast closes at half past ten and you care about it, count backwards from there rather than from checkout.
- Housekeeping. Daytime sessions are easier when the sign is on the door before she arrives, and a longer booking makes that sign more important.
- Your flight. Guests flying the next morning should keep the session to ninety minutes or less and finish before midnight, because the body wants several hours of sleep after a long massage.
Arrival time is not session time
The clock for your session starts when she is in the room, not when you send the message. After you write, the office confirms in about ten minutes, and she reaches any central address forty to sixty minutes after setting out. So a guest who wants ninety minutes to end by eleven should send the first message a little before eight, not at half past nine. Many guests find it easiest to ask for a specific start time rather than for "as soon as possible", because then the length and the end of the evening can both be planned.
If you are not sure how awake you will be, it is better to book the shorter length and ask to extend once she is there. Extending is normal. It depends on her next booking, so she will tell you straight away whether another thirty minutes or another hour is possible, and the extra time is charged at the ladder rate. What cannot happen is the reverse: a session ended early at the guest's request is not refunded, so choosing three hours in the hope of wanting them is a more expensive mistake than choosing ninety minutes and adding more.
Lengths for two people
Couples tend to underestimate how much time a shared booking needs. With one therapist for the two of you, attention moves between you, so a length that feels generous for a single guest feels ordinary for a couple. Ninety minutes is the practical minimum, and two hours is where most couples settle, at 720 euros on the couple row with one therapist. Couples who would like a therapist each book on the fourth row, where one hour is already 720 euros, and in that case the session runs side by side and the length can be the same as for a single guest. The honeymoon page describes a typical evening for two.
A quick way to decide
Most guests can settle the question with three sentences in their head.
- If you have somewhere to be within three hours, book one hour.
- If the evening is free but you want a normal night of sleep, book ninety minutes or two hours.
- If the night itself is the point, look at three hours or the overnight.
When you write, state the length alongside the area of your hotel and the time you would like her to arrive. If you would rather talk it through, say so in the thread and the coordinator will ask two or three questions and suggest a length. The booking page shows the full message format.
