Trade Fair Week Hotel Massage: Your Feet After the Stand

Exhibitors stand on concrete for nine hours a day. How to book a hotel massage in Amsterdam during a trade fair week, from timing to the deposit.

A trade fair week hotel massage is a different booking from a conference one. A delegate sits and listens for most of the day. An exhibitor stands. From opening time to closing time, and often for an hour on either side while the stand is set up and cleared, exhibitors are on their feet on thin carpet laid over concrete. By the third day, the message we receive is almost always about the same thing: feet, calves and lower back.

What nine hours on a stand feels like

The first day is fine. The adrenaline of the opening carries most people through. The second evening brings sore heels and tight calves. By the third, the lower back has started to complain as well, because the body shifts its weight from one leg to the other for hours without noticing. Shoes that felt comfortable on Monday feel tight on Wednesday.

It is worth saying all of this in the first message. A therapist who knows that you have spent three days standing will give the legs and feet far more time than she would otherwise, and she will start the session there rather than finishing with them.

Booking a trade fair week hotel massage

The exhibition halls usually close between six and seven. After that comes the stand dinner, or drinks with a distributor, or a quick meal and an early night. The most practical booking is made during the afternoon, from the stand, for a time about an hour after you expect to be back in your room.

For one guest with one therapist, one hour costs 180 euros and ninety minutes cost 270. On a fair night, ninety minutes is worth the extra half hour, because work on the legs and feet takes time and the back still needs its share. The coordinator confirms a name in about ten minutes, and she arrives at the agreed time.

Peak week, deposit first

Large trade fairs are peak dates for the house, in the same group as King's Day, Pride, ADE, Christmas, New Year and the big conference weeks. During a peak week every booking is confirmed with half the fee in advance, whatever its length and whether or not you have booked before. The half is sent by card, Revolut, Wise or crypto, and the balance is paid in the room in cash, by card or in crypto.

The deposit is not refunded on cancellation. If a stand dinner is suddenly added to your evening, ask to move the time rather than cancelling; a booking held for later the same evening is usually easy to shift if the therapist is free. The cancellation policy has the full rules, including the single move allowed on bookings made more than a day ahead.

Hotels far from the halls

During a big fair, hotels near the exhibition centre fill first, and many exhibitors end up in the centre or in the south of the city. That makes no difference to the booking: the arrival window is forty to sixty minutes anywhere central. Guests who could only find a room at an airport hotel should say so early, because Schiphol visits are arranged in advance.

A few things to do before she arrives

Take off the fair shoes the moment you enter the room and put your feet up for ten minutes. Take a warm shower, not a hot one, because very hot water on swollen feet can make them feel worse. Turn the room temperature up. Put the badge and lanyard in a drawer, simply because nobody wants to see a company logo at the end of the day.

The slow sensual oil massage is the format most exhibitors choose, because the long strokes suit tired legs. Colleagues sharing a stand who are staying at the same hotel sometimes book separate sessions at the same time, each in their own room, which is simply two ordinary bookings.

The last day of the fair

On the final evening, when the stand has been packed into boxes, exhibitors often book two hours instead of one, at 360 euros for one guest with one therapist. It is the one night of the week without an early start. Our page on business trip massage in your hotel has more ideas for the rest of a working visit. Every guest must be at least twenty-one years old.

If tonight is the night

One message with the hotel, the hour and the length is all it takes. The reply names the therapist and the time she will be at your door.
